When it came to South India I really hadn't thought beyond the 5 letter word B-E-A-C-H. After a month of being hot and sweaty every stinking day, I was really looking forward to lying on a beach. With so many beaches in Goa, we chose Arambol because it sounded like it would be a good fit.
We hadn't really quite anticipated the mass quantities of hippies we were do discover upon arrival. I dont mean to sound like I've got issues with hippies/new-agers but Arambol is really something else. Yoga, laughing yoga, love parties, reiki, drum circles, ayurveda, digereedoos, professional hula-hooping, thi-chi masters,dreadlock-making salons, baby yoga, organic restaurants, vegan restaurants.......it was like stepping into a whole other universe. When we first arrived we were unsure that we could like such a place, I mean I've never taken yoga and I wasn't sure I wanted to "share my love" with anyone at a love party.
We quickly fell in love with Arambol. We cancelled our tickets to Hampi in order to stay an extra 5 days and we had an amazing time. The hotel we stayed at (just behind Hotel Ave Maria from Rough Guides) was fabulous. The older couple who manage it were friendly and made us feel so welcome. Most of the people staying near us were there for the whole season and it was just a really nice atmosphere. We were just around the corner from the most fabulous fruit stand that made mouth-watering breakfasts and my to-die-for strawberry lassis. We then usually moseyed on down the beach for a swim or rented a moped to cruise around all the beaches in Northern Goa. How sad we were to leave!!!!

Lowlights:
Running out of money. Like not able to eat until we found an ATM that worked running out of money.
Anjuna flea market. Worth a trip but be ready to haggle like you've never haggled before.
Breakfast at Ganpati guesthouse. Fruit salads, nutella toast and STRAWBERRY LASSI.
